Often served as a side dish for rice or eaten on rice balls in Japan, this fruit has transcended traditions, and countries, to become a trendy detox fibre plum.

How to prepare:

  1. Lather a generous amount of brie cheese on your cracker (you may go for truffle brie cheese for that extra oomph).
  2. Shave up some neat pseudo truffle (AVALON® JustUme Fiber Plum).
  3. Add a thin layer of Parma ham for 1 serving.
  4. Add nuts to your liking!

Main Entrée: Just Ume with Prawn Fusilli

Nowadays, we’re all about that easy-to-whip-up pasta. However, don’t let staying home limit your options! Some days, it is refreshing to go big on your recipes, instead of cooking the usual pasta.  Eileen’s (@eileen_eats_alot) Prawn Fusilli is a creative rendition of JustUme and seafood, which might win Oscar’s Best Picture Award. I mean, let’s take a moment to appreciate the aesthetics of her plating!

Ingredients:

  • AVALON® JustUme Fibre Plum
  • Fusilli (or any pasta of your choice)
  • 1-2 tiger prawns (you may also opt for seabass or salmon)
  • 1 tsp of minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp of pesto
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • A dash of salt and pepper to season
  • 3-4 cherry tomatoes

How to prepare:

  1. Dice up 1 fibre plum.
  2. Boil pasta till al dente and leave it aside.
  3. Heat up a pan and add in garlic.
  4. Start cooking tomatoes and prawns.
  5. Remove prawns when done, and add in pasta.
  6. Stir fry pasta and add in pesto.
  7. Add a dash of pepper and salt, season to your taste!
  8. Plate your pasta and prawns after three minutes, and sprinkle the diced plum all over.
  9. Enjoy!

 

The Next Talk of the Town – JustUme Exquisite Jelly

This might just be the next fine-dining item that hit menus of local-fusion restaurants. We can’t miss out on this jelly treat concocted by Hannah (@mshannahchia). I have to say, this smartly-invented recipe looks intricate and put-together, yet exudes that adventurous depth!

Ingredients:

How to prepare:

  1. Boil water with agar agar stripes till everything is dissolved.
  2. Pour half of the contents into a bowl with sugar. Mix till sugar dissolves.
  3. Repeat step 2 with brown sugar.
  4. Add 1 JustUme Plum into each jelly mould.
  5. Pour agar agar mixture into the mould.
  6. Chill in fridge for at least 1 hour.
  7. Serve it chilled!
